Are you passionate about cultivating a safe work environment and ready to take on a critical role in safety and compliance? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to support our client based in Stratford, CT in maintaining the highest standards of safety and fleet compliance. This role is integral to ensuring the well-being of employees and the smooth operation of fleet activities.

In this position, you’ll be responsible for creating, implementing, and managing safety programs while ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Your efforts will be key in fostering a proactive safety culture, protecting the organization’s workforce, and overseeing compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage comprehensive safety programs aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, including FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety by actively engaging employees in safety initiatives.
  • Communicate safety information effectively through various channels, including meetings, newsletters, and bulletins.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and investigations to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance and inspections to adhere to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Manage the Driver/MHE selection and hiring process to ensure qualified and safety-conscious operators.
  • Coordinate and manage the claims process for Auto, Workers' Compensation, and General Liability insurance.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs covering procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety & Health or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in safety management, ideally in an industrial setting.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing effective safety programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance, including DOT regulations and FMCSA requirements.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey safety information and initiatives.
  • Ability to lead safety audits, investigations, and training sessions.
