In this position, you’ll be responsible for creating, implementing, and managing safety programs while ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Your efforts will be key in fostering a proactive safety culture, protecting the organization’s workforce, and overseeing compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage comprehensive safety programs aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, including FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA standards.
- Promote a culture of safety by actively engaging employees in safety initiatives.
- Communicate safety information effectively through various channels, including meetings, newsletters, and bulletins.
- Conduct regular safety audits and investigations to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and inspections to adhere to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Manage the Driver/MHE selection and hiring process to ensure qualified and safety-conscious operators.
- Coordinate and manage the claims process for Auto, Workers' Compensation, and General Liability insurance.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs covering procedures and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety & Health or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in safety management, ideally in an industrial setting.
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing effective safety programs.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance, including DOT regulations and FMCSA requirements.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey safety information and initiatives.
- Ability to lead safety audits, investigations, and training sessions.
