An experienced accounting professional looking to lead and inspire a team is required for our client based in Stratford, CT.  They are seeking a skilled Accounting Manager to oversee essential accounting functions and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in accounting, who’s ready to manage a talented team and drive financial success.

In your role as Accounting Manager, you will oversee a committed group of accountants and collaborate directly with upper management to improve operational effectiveness and financial performance. Your experience will help the company expand and succeed while encouraging a culture of excellence in the finance division.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee general accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise and support the accounting team, including A/P and A/R staff, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Develop and mentor staff, managing performance, setting goals, and fostering strong employee relationships.
  • Manage and ensure timely filing of Sales & Use Tax Returns.
  • Generate monthly A/R metrics reports to monitor financial performance.
  • Support the VP in month-end and year-end closing activities to produce timely financial statements.
  • Manage Fixed Asset accounting and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with the VP to establish departmental goals, and review and enhance internal control policies and procedures.
  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluation of accounting and financial staff.
  • Oversee financial reporting, billing, and collections functions within the team.

Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a similar discipline. 
  • Certification as a CPA or CMA is desirable. 
  • Five years or more of experience in accounting, preferably in management. 
  • Strong familiarity with financial reporting tools and accounting software. 
  • Outstanding ability to analyze and solve problems. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and team management expertise.
