Alchemy is partnering with an exciting strategy, operations and digital consultancy based in Bristol who are seeking to hire a Senior Consultant Solutions Architect.
This role will be responsible for the provision of independent expert advice to help identify and solve technical challenges, increase value, and maximise business efficiency and profitability. Using established processes whilst working with the client’s senior leadership and support staff the consultant will assist in the creation of digital strategies, processes optimisation and identifying technology solutions to meet client needs.
Responsibilities:
- Solution Design & Architecture. Develop and implement technical architectures that meets business needs, ensure interoperability, and adhere to TOGAF standards.
- Technical direction. Provide guidance on best practices, design patterns, and technology stacks, while overseeing technical delivery.
- Stakeholder collaboration. Work closely with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Governance & Standards. Ensure all solutions comply with government policies, such as security, data protection, and accessibility standards, and are aligned with the appropriate technical standards and frameworks.
- System Integration. Design and oversee integration between various systems and platforms, ensuring compatibility, security, and efficiency.
- Risk Management. Identify potential risks and design strategies for mitigating technical challenges or risks related to architecture and delivery.
- Security architecture. Design secure architectures based on TOGAF's Security Architecture principles, ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and data protection policies.
- Documentation & Communication. Produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation and communicate architecture decisions and designs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
- Assist the Head of Technology Services in developing the companies technology capabilities
- Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals for all direct reports
Requirements
- TOGAF Certification.
- Deep understanding of secure system architecture, including knowledge of encryption, security standards, authentication techniques, and risk management strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into accessible language for stakeholders at various levels. Proficient in data modeling and analysis.
- Significant experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, focusing on the development of cloud-native architecture solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deploy digital solutions that follow the TOGAF Architecture Development Method phases, ensuring models support scalability, security, and efficiency.
- Familiar with governance structures, architecture boards, and compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with both TOGAF’s Governance Framework and relevant DDAT and GDS standards.
- Skilled in identifying and mitigating architectural risks, applying TOGAF’s risk management methodologies for effective solutions.
- Experience working within Agile environments that utilize DevOps practices, integrating TOGAF architecture governance to align architectural strategies with project delivery timelines.
- Strong foundation in architecture frameworks that cover Business, Data, Application, Security, and Technology Architecture, with an emphasis on practical applications within organizations.
Desirable
- Proven experience with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards, service design principles, and technology codes of practice, along with familiarity with the DDAT professional capability framework.
- Relevant certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, Google Cloud Architect) to enhance TOGAF-compliant cloud-native design practices.
- Additional architecture framework certifications, such as ITIL or COBIT, to complement expertise in TOGAF.
- Practical experience leading initiatives for digital transformation, particularly in the public sector.
- Experience in crafting microservices architectures and APIs that align with TOGAF’s principles for Application Architecture, ensuring modularity and scalability.
