Alchemy are partnering with a leading fine art shipping company seeking skilled and experienced Art Craters and Packers to join their growing team in Sydney.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a logistics or art crating company. This hands-on role involves packing and crate construction, as well as operating woodworking machinery to ensure the safe transportation of fine art and valuable objects.
Please note that to be considered for this role, it is essential that you have fine art handling and packing experience working for a gallery, museum or auction house.
Responsibilities:
- Construct crates to precise specifications, ensuring they meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Interpret and follow technical drawings and job sheets to produce accurate and high-quality crating solutions.
- Design structures that provide secure transportation and protection, accounting for pressure points and making necessary adjustments.
- Operate woodworking machinery, including routers, saws, and planers, to fabricate crate components.
- Assemble and secure crate components, including supports, mounting backing materials, and fastening frames.
- Identify and utilise the appropriate machines and tools required for efficient and precise crate construction.
Skills and Qualifications:
- At least 3 years’ experience in art crating and construction.
- Expertise in packing, handling, and installing museum objects and artwork.
- Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role.
- Proficient in operating wood machining equipment, including saws, routers, and planers.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job specifications.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills to ensure precision in crate construction.
- Must have a clear police record to meet visa application requirements.
