We are seeking a skilled AI Policy Officer to join a forward-thinking, technology-driven company. This role offers the opportunity to shape the company’s approach to AI governance, regulation, and ethics, ensuring compliance with global standards and fostering responsible AI development. The AI Policy Officer will play a critical role in influencing AI policy, regulatory strategies, and the ethical considerations surrounding the development and deployment of AI technologies.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement AI policies and governance frameworks to ensure alignment with global regulations and ethical standards.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in AI legislation, ethics, and industry best practices to provide strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, engineering, and product departments, to ensure AI technologies are ethically developed and legally compliant.
  • Advise senior leadership on the ethical implications of AI technologies, focusing on transparency, fairness, accountability, and privacy.
  • Engage with policymakers, industry groups, and regulatory bodies to stay informed on AI-related legislation and advocate for responsible AI development.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential ethical or regulatory issues in AI deployment.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for leadership, aligning AI policy with the company’s strategic objectives and values.
  • Support internal initiatives to foster a culture of ethical AI practices through training and awareness programs.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, guidelines, and global standards in AI regulation and governance.
  • Represent the company in discussions around AI policy, ethics, and regulatory frameworks, both internally and externally.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Five or more years of experience in AI policy, ethics, or regulation, ideally within the technology or software sectors.
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of global AI regulations and guidelines, such as the EU AI Act, GDPR, and emerging AI laws.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex policy issues and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to integrate ethical considerations into product development and decision-making.
  • Ability to think strategically and remain adaptable to an evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience in engaging with regulatory bodies, industry groups, or government agencies on AI-related policy.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks for AI technologies.
  • Knowledge of privacy laws and data protection considerations in AI development.
  • Experience with public relations or external communications related to AI policy and ethics.
