In this role you will be responsible for constructing bespoke crates, ensuring the safe transport of valuable artwork and museum objects. The role involves hands-on woodworking, operating machinery, and designing protective structures tailored to specific requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Construct high-quality crates to precise specifications, meeting industry standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and job sheets to ensure accurate production.
- Design and adapt crating structures to provide optimal protection, considering pressure points and handling needs.
- Operate woodworking machinery, including routers, saws, and planers.
- Fit and secure crate components, support structures, and mounting materials.
- Identify appropriate machines and tools for crate construction.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in art crating and construction.
- Proven experience in packing, handling, and installing museum objects and artwork.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks.
- Proficiency in using a variety of woodworking and machining equipment.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and job specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of safety practices within a manufacturing environment.
- Must have a clear police record for visa purposes.
