Role Responsibilities:
- Actively seek new business to meet and exceed departmental sales budgets.
- Catalogue and appraise silver items accurately for auction sales.
- Maintain and enhance a robust database of clients, including buyers and sellers.
- Respond promptly to email and front-counter valuation inquiries.
- Engage in all facets of catalogue production, from research to final proofreading.
- Collaborate with in-house photographers to ensure high-quality imaging of auction items.
- Produce detailed condition reports prior to auctions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with established collectors and trade contacts to encourage ongoing business.
- Assist in creating and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns to promote departmental activities.
- Conduct valuations at various locations, as needed, within the UK and Europe.
- Help produce auction catalogues and ensure their timely delivery to printers.
- Stay informed of competitor strategies to uphold the department’s competitive edge.
- Promote the department through lectures and other events to enhance visibility and engagement.
- In-depth knowledge of market trends, strong research skills and a genuine interest in working in the silver sector.
- Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in silver and auction procedures.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Established network of contacts in the auction industry or willingness to develop such connections.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
