A renowned global corporation, is looking for a skilled US & Canadian Payroll Specialist to join their team on a 12-month contract basis.

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with the flexibility to work from home and a requirement to be in the office 2 days per week in Herndon, VA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the bi-weekly payroll cycle for a team of 700+ employees, ensuring all payroll data is processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Process payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all employee records.
  • Set up and maintain state and provincial tax accounts, including all aspects of withholding and unemployment contributions.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal and state payroll regulations, including CRA, CPP, EI, and other relevant statutory requirements.
  • Implement and review garnishment orders, ensuring adherence to applicable laws.
  • Prepare and file necessary payroll tax forms, including T4s, ROEs, and other mandated reports.
  • Handle payroll adjustments for new hires, terminations, and address any pay discrepancies as required.
  • Generate and review month-end payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Verify and update employee information, including new hire data, personal changes, and voluntary deductions prior to processing payroll.
  • Calculate and manage bonus payments and other forms of variable pay as necessary.
  • Ensure all payroll calculations, deductions, and withholdings comply with both legal and organisational standards.
  • Address and resolve issues related to stop payments, payroll corrections, and other discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Administer responses to unemployment claims and ensure correct processing.
  • Oversee employee benefit deductions, including pensions, statutory leave entitlements, and vacation or holiday pay.

Key Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in US & Canadian payroll administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing payroll a minimum of 300 employees, with multi-state payroll processing experience. 
  • Proficiency in using UKG Payroll Software (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel for payroll reporting and analysis.
  • FPC (Fundamentals of Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll processes is essential.
